Sarmad is an independent platform dedicated to politics of image and image–making. Based in Rotterdam (Netherlands), Sarmad works in research, publishing, collective thinking, and pedagogy through public events, workshops, exhibitions and publications. Sarmad is interested in the interrelation between image making and power; with the understanding that the realm of the image expands beyond the visual.
Sarmad shows its serial publication called "Sarmad Books" about experimental practices of image–making. As well, it shows the publications of the long–term project "Un–Making Image" about the interrelations of image and power.
It shows the "Pocket Book Series" made as part of Fictioning Comfort ( fictioningcomfort.space ), as well as a series of experimental publications on a variety of subjects ranging from whiteness, otherness, and precarity, to bodily pain, settling down in the space of the mattress, and Persian cats.
