I will be reading a new piece called Buy the Shoe and Write the Book live on zoom at 4pm. The zoom link will be running for the duration of ASP online if you want to chat to me about my work or buy a poster. I’ll also be reading a new ghost story via Adam Gallagher’s page, as part of his project Friends of the E.A.R.F.

If you are interested in learning more about what I do, here is some information:

Emily Pope (b. 1990 London) is an artist currently working with film, printmaking, writing, radio and who is excited by experimental forms of broadcast and distribution.

Her recent film series The Sitcom Show explored a subversion of the commodification and production of the character of the female ‘offbeat’ comic within contemporary media, alternative documentation of austerity Britain, characterised precarity on-screen, labour politics and class structures within the arts industry, complicity in a parody of self, a history of obscure cancelled sitcoms and self-deprecating or hardcore confessional humour within queer cabaret.

Emily also hosts and directs a comedy night called You Can’t Blame a Girl for Trying and makes a podcast for Montez Press Radio called Lesbian Films Emily Likes. Between 2015 and 2019 she collaborated with Ruth Angel Edwards on Got 2 B Radio, which covered ‘current events’ in relation to sub- and pop culture and was broadcast on Resonance fm and Comet Radio.
